Kim Spencer is the web graphic designer at the University of Richmond. Originally from Yorktown, Virginia, she moved to Richmond to attend college. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1997 with a bachelor of fine arts degree in crafts and received her second BFA in 2002 in communication design. Kim places a tremendous value on education and as a result she will receive her master of liberal arts degree in film studies from the University of Richmond this summer.
In her pursuits to promote the value of design, she served as the president and new media coordinator of the Richmond chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design. She currently serves on the AIGA In-House Designer Task Force as well as the Piedmont Virginia Community College Graphic Design Advisory Council.
Upon finishing her third degree, she hopes to devote more time to writing formally about web design and the utilization of cinematic language. In addition, she looks forward to spending more time with her infant son and her incredibly supportive husband.
